Yesterday I made a cute little easter bunny following a revoluzza tutorial and pattern. You should make one too!

I called her Matilda and gave her to mum. She now spends her days in my mum’s kitchen, taking it easy and watching over the dogs.
Making things makes me so happy!

Part of the reason I want to learn how to sew is that I’m hoping I will save some money in the process. Constantly spending money on cute hair pins, brooches and earrings seems wasteful and I want to be as environmentally friendly as I can. But also, I want to have accessories that are somewhat unique and that I can feel proud wearing.
Looking around for tutorials on how to make your own accessories I found a nifty little guide on how to make your own fabric flower headband or brooch. It took me half an hour and a little scrap of fabric and then my flower was done.

My next flower brooch is going to be hot pink and have a white pearl centre. I’m also hoping to make one or two for my little sister as a gift before she moves north.

I decided that I wanted to learn how to sew. Sure, we got taught the basics in school, but I have basically forgotten everything I was once taught so now I’m working hard to re-teach myself, starting with easy little crafts that involve sewing, both by hand and using a machine.
I madeĀ a make up brush carrier using a tutorial from here, but changing it around a bit because my brushes are not at very long. I also made a small pocket tissue holder that matches.

It turned out wonderful, and apparently I still remember how to do straight lines. If/when it gets dirty from getting makeup smudged all over I’ll just quickly hand wash and it should be back to looking good.
Any good advice for tutorials with easy to make projects?
